Date of birth: 4 April 1989, Cape Town, South Africa

Nottinghamshire First Class Debut: 15 April 2021 vs Warwickshire (Trent Bridge)

Following in the footsteps of some of the most famous names in cricket, Dane Paterson assumed one of the overseas slots at Trent Bridge in 2021 and has quickly proven to be an incredibly astute signing.

Initially signing as a Kolpak player before a change in legislation, the Cape Town-born fast bowler has blown away a host of batting line-ups in his three years with the club.

Indeed, he wrote himself into the record books in 2022 – no-one since Franklyn Stephenson in 1988 has taken 100 First-Class wickets as quickly for Notts as Paterson (21 matches), a statistic helped by a career-best 8-52 against Worcestershire at Trent Bridge.

Paterson approaches his batting with intent, with his mighty blow for six to win a one-day game against Northants and some lusty walloping against Lancashire at Blackpool showing what a powerful hitter he can be.

He has represented the Proteas across all-formats, with a recall to the Test arena in 2024.
